Gaithersburg, Md. (BW)- One man was arrested and charged for two carjackings in Montgomery County in November 2023.
18-year-old Joseph De-La-Paz was arrested on January 5th and charged with multiple counts of armed carjacking, armed robbery, assault, theft and firearm related offenses.
On Nov 7, 2023, a carjacking was reported to police in the 3100 block of McMahon Road.
An adult female victim was approached by five male suspects wearing all black clothes and ski masks. One suspect displayed a gun, while another displayed a knife. The suspects demanded the victim’s keys and cellphone. The suspects then took the victim’s 2013 Nissan Sentra and fled.
The second carjacking was reported on Nov 8, 2023 in the area of Leonard Court.
Another adult female victim was approached by three suspects wearing dark clothing and ski masks. Two displayed guns. They demanded the victim to drive them to her bank, but she ran away. The suspects took her 2017 Honda Pilot and fled.
Police are still looking for the other suspects involved in these carjackings.
De-La-Paz is currently being held without bond.
