Myersville, Md (KM) Eastbound Interstate 70 near Myersville was shut down for a time on Monday while fire fighters put out a tractor trailer fire.
Officials with Fire and Rescues Services say personnel were dispatched to I-70 near Route 17 at around 11:30 AM for a truck fire. Arriving on the scene, fire fighters found a tractor trailer fully involved. They requested a front end loader from the State Highway Administration to remove the truck’s cargo which was hay.
The fire went to a second alarm, and personnel at the scene requested a tanker task force. Crews were able to use the fire hydrant the Exxon station on Route 17.
Eastbound I-70 was shut down to allow personnel to remove the hay from trailer, and place it on the roadway to completely put out the fire. Most of the hay was removed at around 1:51 PM, and fire fighters continued to put out hot spots.
There were no reports of any injuries.
