Parts Of Catoctin Mountain Park To Be Closed For One Week

Officials say it’s due to increased security.

Thurmont, Md (KM) The National Park Service says portions of Catoctin Mountain Park will be closed starting at 4:00 PM on Thursday, June 20th; and that will continue until about 8:00 PM on Thursday, July fourth.

Park Central Road will be closed between Thurmont Vista and the Camp Greentop entrance. Trails to the Hog Rock Overlook and Blue Ridge Summit Vista will also be closed. All other roads and trails will remain open.

Parking lots at the visitor center will be open, but may fill up early in the day. Park Service officials say  additional parking will be available on the west side of Camp Round Meadow  and the  Owens Creek picnic area. Trial maps are available at trailheads throughout the park.
