It’s part of an EPA mandate.
Frederick, Md (KM) The City of Frederick says it has launched a comprehensive lead service line inventory. It’s part of the Lead and Copper Rule Revisions mandated by the US Environmental Protection Agency.
In a statement, Mayor Michael O’Connor says the city maintains clean and high quality drinking water for all of its residents, but is continuing to take steps to meet the high standards set by the EPA, “Clean drinking water for our residents is a fundamental and necessary priority of any government organization,” Mayor O’Connor says. “”While the City maintains clean, high quality drinking water, we are continually taking more steps to meet the standards of the EPA. To that end, we are embarking on this lead line inventory which will allow us to access funding opportunities and ensure the are no issues with our water quality.”
The City is asking residents, particularly those whose homes were constructed before 1973, to check their service lines and report their findings through an online survey. They can find detailed instructions and a tutorial to guide them through the process.
“Our goal is to create a comprehensive inventory that will help us safeguard our community’s health and secure necessary resources for future improvements,” says Mayor O’Connor. “Your participation is critical in helping us achieve this goal.”
