Hancock, Md (KM) A resident of a home in Hancock suffered non-life threatening injuries during a house fire on Sunday afternoon.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says at around 3:00 PM, fire fighters were dispatched to a house at 14736 White Oak Ridge for a two -story, single family home on fire. They spent 25-minute bringing the flames under control.
Damage is estimated at $250,000 to the structure, and $60,000 to the contents. .
The fire was discovered by one of the occupants when that person heard a crackling noise and saw a glow on the exterior of the home. That person notified the other residents.
Investigators say the fire originated on the front porch. The cause was accidental due to the electrical failure of an extension cord.
The family is being assisted by the American Red Cross.
