He was arrested last week by Fairfax County Police.
Frederick, Md (KM) A Virginia man is charged in Maryland with several counts of sexual solicitation of a minor. David Clay Murray, 48, was arrested on Friday, August 9th in Fairfax County and is awaiting extradition back to Frederick County.
The Sheriff’s Office says on August 1st, a detective working online investigations was posing as a 15-year-old girl. Authorities say Murray began contact with the person he thought was a teenage girl through a cellular messaging application. The detective told Murray several time he was dealing with a 15-year-old girl, but Murray continued to engage in sexual conversations, and soliciting numerous sex acts.
The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office obtained a warrant charging Murray with five counts of sexual solicitation of a minor.
Fairfax County Police were contacted, and they took Murray into custody
“This case is a very good example of agency cooperation and information sharing across state lines to take an offender off the street, and the importance of the ICAC {Internet Crimes Against Children} mission to protect minors. The public should know that the Sheriffs’ Office detectives are handling an increasing number of these types of cases which should be alarming to parents. I will also take this opportunity to reinforce to parents to pay close attention to what their minor children are involved in on mobile apps, websites and social media platforms,” says Sheriff Chuck Jenkins in a statement.
