Frederick,. Md (KM) The cause of a building fire in downtown Frederick on Tuesday remains under investigation.
The call went out at 9:27 AM to the 100 block of North Market Street for a building fire with entrapment. Fire fighters arriving at the scene saw smoke coming from two buildings, and requested the Rapid Intervention Dispatch and a Fire Task Force which brings additional fire fighters to the scene. The two buildings housed the River Bar and Grill, and the Agave 137 Tequila Bar and Grill in the front, and apartment units in the rear.
County Fire and Rescue officials say a search got underway for persons inside the building. Two individuals who were on the roof of two buildings were rescued; two additional occupants were assisted in getting out of the building.
Due to an aggressive attack by fire fighters, the fire was brought under control and declared extinguished within 20-minutes, fire officials say.
One person was evaluated for injuries, but refused treatment.
11 people were displaced, and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
During fire fighting operations, Frederick Police closed off Market Street, and Church and Third Streets in the downtown.
