Frederick, Md (KM) A Frederick man is charged with weapons offenses following an incident last weekend. . Police say Joshua Wayne RIppeon, 41, was taken into custody in the 900 block of West Patrick Street.
At around 8:12 PM Sunday, officers were dispatched to a weapons complaint in the 100 block West Patrick Street. The victim told the police an agitated individual approached him while in a parking lot. The man opened the driver’s side door and began yelling at the victim. He returned to his own vehicle to get a long gun. The man brandished the weapon before leaving the area.
Rippeon was apprehended a short time later, and taken to the Adult Detention Center. He is charged with 1st-degree assault; 2nd-degree assault; possession of a firearm in the commission of a violent crime; having a loaded handgun on his person; possession of a firearm with a felony conviction; illegal possession of ammunition; and illegal possession of a regulated firearm.
He’s been released on $20,000 unsecured personal bond, according to the Maryland Judiciary Case Search website.
Police also recovered an AR 15 style rifle in the trunk of Rippeon’s vehicle.
Authorities attribute quick action by responding officers for taking Rippeon into custody.
