Four Teens Arrested For Bethesda Avenue Armed Carjacking

The second time in two weeks that multiple teenagers were arrested in Montgomery County for a violent crime.

Gaithersburg, MD – Three Silver Spring teens, 13, 14, and 17-years-old, and a 15-year-old from Prince George’s County have been arrested for an armed carjacking on Bethesda Avenue.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at approximately 9:21 p.m., the teen suspects, wearing all black with face masks, approached the victim, who was inside their vehicle in the 4800 block of Bethesda Avenue. The 17-year-old suspect displayed a gun and demanded the victim’s car keys and property. The victim complied with the suspect’s demands. The teens then left the scene in the victim’s vehicle.

The vehicle was observed on Wisconsin Avenue and Stanford Street, by an off-duty officer. When the officer initiated a traffic stop, the teens stopped and attempted to flee from the stolen vehicle. All four teens were located in the area and quickly apprehended.

The 13 and 15-year-old were transported to the Cheltenham Detention Center.

The 17-year-old was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he was charged as an adult with armed carjacking, armed robbery and other related offenses.

The 14-year-old was transported to an area hospital, with minor injuries sustained while committing the crime and attempting to run away from police. On Tuesday, October 22, 2024, the teen was taken into custody, charged with armed carjacking and armed robbery and transported to the Cheltenham Detention Center.
