Frederick, Md (KM) The jury in the trial of David Clayton Hanson, 34, reached a verdict Friday afternoon.
The Frederick County State’s Attorney’s Office says jurors found Hanson guilty of two counts of 1st-degree assault, and six firearms offenses, including two counts of the use of a firearm in a crime of violence, illegal possession of a firearm, having a loaded handgun on his person, having a handgun on his person. and illegal possession of ammunition. . But it found Hanson not guilty on one count of 1st-degree assault, and a mistrial was declared on the charge of attempted first-degree murder.
Hanson’s trial had been underway all week.
Hanson, of Madison Heights, Virginia, was arrested in November, 2021 in Frederick for pointing a gun at a woman who was sitting in her vehicle talking with an acquaintance. Police say Hanson pulled the trigger, but the gun did not fire. The incident took place in the 400 block of East Patrick Street.
The judge has set a tentative sentencing date of March 5th, 2025.
