Police say it’s due to community awareness, pro-active crime prevention strategies

Frederick, Md (KM) The latest crime statistics look good for the city of Frederick. Police say between January and October, 2024, reductions have been seen across several categories,
Destruction of property/damage/vandalism dropped by 21.29 percent. Fraud went down by 10.8 percent. Burglary declined by 9.2 percent. Motor vehicle thefts dropped by 15.2 percent. , Sex offenses, both forcible and non-forcible, went down by 2.2 percent. And drug and narcotics offenses declined by 6 percent. These percentages are declines from last year.
Department officials say these dropping numbers showcase the power of community awareness, targeted enforcement and pro-active crime prevention strategies. Police say they will remain focused on all areas of public safety to keep citizens safe.
