Frederick, Md (KM) An inaugural director has been named for Hood College’s new Biomedical Research and Training Center. The school says it’s Dr.  Rana Khan, and she was selected following a national search.

“I am excited to join the Hood community and eager to bring my skills to the table and contribute to the building of BRTC and help establish it as leader in fulfilling the educational and training needs of the workforce in Frederick County, Maryland” Dr. Khan says in a statement.

Khan received her Ph.D in molecular and cell biology from the University of Maryland Global Campus. She has also held leadership positions at the University of Maryland Global Campus and Yeshiva University in New York City.

Hood says the Biomedical Research and Training Center, under Dr. Khan’s leadership, will build strong connections between higher education, government and the biomedical industry. Its programs will include specialized training modules, internship and job placement, and professional development workshops. They’re all geared to “upskill” students and professionals alike, the college says in a statement.
