Westbound I-70 was closed for over an hour.
HAGERSTOWN, MD – A crash involving six vehicles on Interstate 70 in Hagerstown has left two people hospitalized Thursday morning. The incident occurred just before 10 a.m. on I-70 West, near Virginia Avenue.
According to Maryland State Police, the crash began when a vehicle, for reasons still under investigation, started to cut across lanes. The vehicle was struck by oncoming traffic, setting off a chain reaction that involved six vehicles.
Emergency responders transported two people to the hospital, though their conditions are not currently known.
As a result of the crash, all westbound lanes of I-70 were closed for over an hour, causing significant delays according to DC News Now.
The crash remains under investigation, and authorities are working to determine the exact cause of the accident. Anyone with information is encouraged to come forward.
