Frederick, Md (KM) Frederick County Government offices will be closed on New Year’s Day, Wednesday, January 1st, 2025.
Those offices include:
• Animal Control: On Wednesday, January 1 administrative offices will be closed, and kennels will be
closed for adoptions. Animal Control Officers will be available only for animal related emergencies. For

• Board of Elections: Office will be closed Wednesday, January 1. For further details, visit

• Department of Social Services: Office will be closed Wednesday, January 1. For further details or
updates to the schedule, call 1-800-332-6347 or visit www.dhs.maryland.gov.
• Division of Solid Waste and Recycling: The Reich’s Ford Road Facility, including the Transfer
Station, Yard Waste and Compost Programs, Citizens Convenience Center, and Recycling Center, will
be closed Wednesday, January 1 with operations resuming Thursday, January 2 at 7 a.m. Due to the
holiday closure, recycling collection will slide one day, with Wednesday’s collection sliding to
Thursday, Thursday to Friday, Friday to Saturday. With the holidays DSWR reminds residents to
download the Recycle Coach App to keep track of changes.
• Health Department: All offices will be closed Wednesday, January 1. For details, call 301-600-1029

• Frederick County Public Libraries: Libraries will be close early at 5 p.m. Tuesday, December 31 and
will be closed New Year’s Day, Wednesday, January 1. Curbside pickup and telephone reference will

• Frederick County Courts and State’s Attorney’s Office: Frederick County Circuit and District
Courts, and the State’s Attorney’s Office, will be closed Wednesday, January 1.
• Transit: On Tuesday, December 31 Transit will operate on a modified schedule: Connector Service will
operate from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; shuttles and Transit-plus service will operate on a regular schedule. To
