Frederick County Sheriff’s Office Launches Drone Program

Authorities say these devices will be used in response to incidents, event monitoring.

Frederick, Md (KM) A new drone program has been launched by the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office.

The agency says in a Facebook posting after a thorough evaluation and training, patrol deputies are operating three, state-of-the-art Skydio X-10 drones when deployment is requested during an incident. Authorities say these drones can be used for search and rescue, event monitoring and disaster response.

They’re intended to improve deputy safety and keep costs down compared to traditional methods, authorities say. .

The Sheriff’s Office calls these drones “a game-changer for public safety and operational efficiency.”

“These are just a few of the many ways the FCSO {Frederick County Sheriff’s Office} will use this technology to enhance law enforcement operations, and better serve the community, ” the Facebook posting said.
