Frederick, Md. (KM) Frederick County is now accepting applications for the Agriculture Innovation Grant Program.

Those in the agriculture industry can apply for grants of $5,000 or more which help strengthen the county’s agricultural industry.

Applicants can be crop and livestock producers, value-added producers, agriculture cooperatives, seafood processors, and both primary and secondary timber products processors. The grants can be used for research and development, production buildings, major fixtures or processing faculties.

The deadline to apply is Monday, March 31st at 4:00 PM

A review committee will examine each of the applications, and make recommendations to the County Executive.

These grants are highly competitive, the county says.

The Agriculture Innovation Grants have been around since 2021. The County says to date, $1,60,000 has been awarded for 70 agricultural projects in Frederick County, and that has led to the creation of more than 300 jobs.

“The Agriculture Innovation Grants have proven to be transformative for many farming operations in Frederick County,”: says Katie Stevens, Director of the Office of Agriculture. “By supporting diversification and the launch of new projects, we are ensuring the continued  prosperity and preservations of our community’s agricultural heritage.”
