Union Bridge, Md. (KM) Damage from a fire to a storage barn in Union Bridge Tuesday evening is estimated at $40,000 to the structure, and $30,000 to the contents.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says 50 fire fighters responded to 4324 Bark Hill Road at 9:53 PM for a building fire, and spent 45-minutes bringing the flames under control.
Officials say the fire was noticed by the owners in a utility vehicle known as a Kawasaki Mule parked in front the barn. It spread to the building. The owners tried to put out the flames, but were unsuccessful.
An adult male said he had burns to his feet, but refused medical treatment on the scene.
It was a one-alarm fire, but a tanker task force was put together to shuttle water to the fire grounds.
The Fire Marshal’s Office says the cause remains under investigation.
The storage barn is owned by Richard and Karen Schwartzback.
