It was due to a chemical being used by a flooring contractor.
Brunswick, Md. (KM) Two children were taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital on Thursday after an unknown odor was detected at their daycare center in Brunswick.
Battalion Chief Kevin Fox with Frederick County Fire and Rescue Services, says personnel from Brunswick, Lovettsville, Virginia and Fredeick County’s Hazardous Incident Response Team, were dispatched to 2 East Potomac Street at around 12:45 PM for an unknown odor with patients. .
“Upon arrival, they investigated. They determined that the cause of that was a flooring material as they were doing flooring work in the basement of this building,” he says.
Fox says the material used by the flooring contractor was epoxy.
Emergency workers ventilated the building and did some metering before letting anyone back in. They cleared the scene shortly before 3:00 PM.
Fox says the children were transported by basic life support. “which is just our ambulance only. There were no paramedics on board to Frederick Memorial Hospital.”
