It’s intended to control the mosquito population.
Frederick, Md (KM) The Maryland Department of Agriculture and the Frederick County Health Department say mosquito spraying will take place Thursday evening, Aug. 4th, in the Stonegate Farms Subdivision in Frederick.
The spraying will start at 7:30 PM, weather permitting. Any existing spraying exemptions will be temporarily suspended.
Officials say this follows a public health concern over mosquito-borne illnesses such as West Nile virus and the Zika virus. Residents are urged to avoid outdoor activities.
After the spraying, within 24 to 48-hours, state and local inspectors will be in the area to look for mosquito breeding sites, and conduct backyard spraying, if necessary. Residents are asked to cooperate with the inspectors.
State and local officials urge property owners to inspect their properties for standing water where mosquitoes can breed, and remove it.
