HANCOCK, Md. (AP) — An emergency services official says no one was hurt in a fiery home explosion in rural western Maryland.
Tina Bowers, assistant administrator for Washington County Fire and Emergency Services, says the only person on the property Thursday morning was a construction worker who has been accounted for.
She says the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the incident at a single-family home on Hollow Road near Hancock.
Photos by The Herald-Mail newspaper of Hagerstown show the smoking ruins of a building reduced to rubble.
The address is about 80 miles northwest of Baltimore in an area of farms and steep, forested hills in the state’s narrow western panhandle.
