Costa Rican Electricity Institute reports that last year renewable energy sources made up 99% of the Latin American country’s electricity. And they had 285 days that were totally powered by green energy.
Costa Rica has a unique climate and terrain, so they’re able to take advantage of several renewable energy sources. Most of it comes from hydroelectric power plants, thanks to their rivers and heavy tropical rainfall. They also use a combination of wind, solar, and geothermal energy.
