Deputies were at the school all day due to earlier altercations involving students.
Frederick, Md (KM) A 17-year-old male student at Frederick High has been charged with striking a female student in the head, rendering her unconscious. The Sheriff’s Office says the incident occurred Friday afternoon as classes were being dismissed.
Authorities says the student refused verbal and physical directions from school staff and law enforcement officers. He resisted arrest and assaulted one of the deputies. The teenager attempted to flee, but another deputy used a Taser on the student, and he complied.
The female strident was transported to Meritus Medical Center. The deputy who was assaulted sustained minor injuries.
The youth is charged with 2nd-degree assault, assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest and failing to obey the lawful order of a police officer. He was turned over to the Department of Juvenile Services.
The Sheriff’s Office says it had several deputies at Frederick High throughout the day due to altercations between students. Frederick Police Officers were also at the school to assist Sheriff’s Deputies.
