Hagerstown, Md. (KM) The cause of a fire at a hospice residence under construction in Washington County remains under investigation.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office says 80 fire fighters from Funkstown and surrounding jurisdictions responded to a two-alarm blaze at 11370 Caring Way shortly before 3:00 AM on Monday, and battled the wind driven fire for about three hours. No injuries were reported.
The total property loss is estimated at $3.5-million .
The 17,000-square-foot hospice center, which was known as Doey’s House, was scheduled for completion by December 31st, and was to have 12 rooms.
Hospice of Washington County Executive Director Eric Klimes says in a statement that the organization will rebuild. It would be the first hospice residence in Washington County.
