Occupants Safely Escape From Their Burning Home In Eastern Frederick County

Fire fighters spent 30-minutes putting out the flames.

Frederick, Md (KM)  Fire damaged a home Monday afternoon in the Tarson Manor community in eastern Frederick County.

Battalion Chief Kevin Fox with Frederick County Fire and Rescue says fire fighters from Frederick and Carroll County responded to the 9000 block of Tarr Drive at around 4:44 PM. “The initial arriving fire and rescue crews from Libertytown reported fire showing from the roof and attic areas,  with smoke billowing from the eaves,” says Fox.

There was an original report on the fire and rescue scanner that there may be two people trapped, but Fox says all occupants got out safely  prior to the arrival of fire fighters. “It took about  30-minutes for fire and rescue crews to extinguish the blaze,” he says.

There were no injuries.

The occupants are being assisted by the Red Cross.

The County Fire Marshal’s Office has determined the cause of the fire was a malfunctioning wood stove.

Damage is estimated at $200,000.
