She and her sister are charged in a fatal stabbing.
Frederick, Md (KM) The second day of the trial of Tierra Lucas, 30, of Frederick got underway on Thursday. Lucas and her sister, Alexis, 24, are charged with 1st-degree murder and 1st-degree assault for the stabbing death of Brian Graves, 36, of Frederick on April 4th, 2016, outside of the Olde Towne Tavern on North Market Street.
State’s Attorney Charlie Smith says the prosecution called to the witness stand police officers who responded to the scene. “Officer Wolf was one of the first officers on scene, who testified about the amount of blood and the size of the wound. After that officer, we had some medical stipulation about some life saving efforts by EMS, Maryland State Police, {University of Maryland’s} Shock Trauma,” he said.
Then they heard from employees at the Olde Towne Tavern. “Both the DJ and the bouncer took the stand. They both testified about what they could remember about the night. But they did say that it all happened so fast,” Smith says.
The jury also got a chance to see a cell phone video taken at the scene. “It shows both of the sisters there. It shows Brian Graves appearing to be stabbed. It’s not super close up because it’s a cell phone video. But clearly it shows what happening, and we believe shows the murder is occurring,” he says.
Smith was asked how convincing this video will be for the prosecution. “You have 12 people to state beyond a reasonable doubt and unanimously that they think that it was a murder,” he said “We feel that it is. We’re going to present a case that proves it beyond a reasonable doubt.”
The State will continue presenting its case on Friday. Smith says the prosecution is expected to wrap up next week. Then it will be the defense’s turn.
Alexis Lucas’ trial is expected to take place in April.
