He was found deceased in his home.
Frederick, Md (KM) A Frederick County Sheriff’s Deputy who was arrested early Monday morning on marijuana charges was found dead in his home later on that day. The Sheriff’s Office says Deputy Vincent Jones, 29, died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Authorities say Jones conducted a traffic stop recently, and confiscated a quantity of marijuana. But didn’t place it on property and report it as required. Instead, he gave 11.2-grams of the pot to another person with whom he was trying to foster a relationship. That individual contacted the Sheriff’s Office on Saturday, July 29th.
Deputy Jones was arrested early Monday morning, July 31st, and charged with distribution of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of marijuana over 10 grams. .He was released on $10,000 unsecured bond from the Detention Center.
Representatives from the Sheriff’s Office went to his home on Spruce Peak Way in Frederick around 12:00 noon to serve a termination notice. While speaking with a family member, they heard a loud noise coming from the second floor. They went to investigate and found Jones dead from a gunshot wound.
The Frederick Police was called to the scene to conduct a death investigation.
Deputy Jones was originally hired as a correctional officer in 2011, and became a Deputy Sheriff recruit in February, 2016.
