FREDERICK, Md. (DG) It was an emotional day in Frederick County Circuit Court Tuesday as two sisters were sentenced for the murder of Brian Graves in April of 2016.
“Nothing will ever bring back Mr.Graves, it was a very emotional time for the family up at court, as they talked about their loved one, Mr. Graves, they talked about why it happened and why it shouldn’t have happened. I think both judges weighed that into their decision and giving the substancial sentence,” said State’s Attorney Charlie Smith.
30-year-old Tierra Lucas was sentenced to 30 years for second degree murder. Her sister 24-year-old Alexis Lucas was given seven and a half years for handing her sister the knife that killed Graves.
“We’re happy with the sentence, especially the maxium sentence of 30 years. Seven and a half years for getting her sister the knife, participating in the fight, we thought was a pretty substancial sentence, too,” said Smith.
Both women will have to serve at least 50 percent of their sentences before being eligible for parole.
