Mammography results are given out to each patient at FMH facility on same testing day.
Frederick, MD (LG) October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign to raise awareness of breast cancer risks, and the value of screening and early detection. Doctor Rachel Mandel, Assistant Vice President of Medical Affairs, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, says FMH’s mammography services are very comprehensive and provides a seamless experience for patients.
“The staff, the radiologists, have all spent quite a bit of time creating this process where someone can come in and get their screening mammogram, have additional imaging and studies if they need to, and be navigated through the system so they won’t have to worry about if something happens, or if they need to do something special,” said Dr. Mandel.
Doctor Peter Kremer, Director of Breast Imaging and Intervention says patients receive their results on the same day before leaving the facility. “There is a really excellent integration of services that is actually not visible to the patients, behind the scenes, but it’s critical to maintaining the high level of care. We also have direct consultation care with physicians at MD Anderson, so we kind of think that’s unusual and very beneficial to the patients, even though they don’t see it, it’s happening behind the scenes.”
Frederick Memorial Hospital is the only health system in the state of Maryland to become a certified member of the MD Anderson Cancer Network, which is one of the largest cancer centers in the world.
Over the years, Frederick Regional Health System has invested in the latest technologies, treatment environments, and expert providers to deliver quality healthcare to the Frederick community. “3-D mammography is the latest technology in breast cancer detection and is available at the Rose Hill and Crestwood locations,” continued Dr. Kremer.
