Suspect Charged With Double Homicide

Authorities say the victims were run over twice by a car.

Frederick, Md (KM). The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office has filed charges in connection with a double homicide Thursday morning. Delajhi Joyner, 24, of Frederick,  is charged with two counts of 1st-degree murder for the deaths of Shondre Jannelle Brown Naylor, 37, and Jermaine Langley Hill, Jr., 19. Both of the victims are also  from Frederick.

Authorities say early Thursday morning at around 5:10, a 911 call was received describing a physical assault along  Acacia Court. Joyner was believed to be assaulting both victims in the roadway. Deputies responded very quickly to the scene, and found Naylor and Hill lying on the roadway. Emergency Medical personnel responded and pronounced both victims dead. Their bodies have been taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsies which are expected to be completed on Friday.

Investigators say Joyner got into a Chevrolet Malibu, and backed up over both Naylor and Hill, dragging them a distance. He then back over them a second time.

He fled the scene, but was located shortly afterward by deputies. He’s currently incarcerated at the Frederick County Detention Center.

Frederick County Sheriff Chuck Jenkins was at the scene, and told WFMD News that there’s a lot of unknowns about this incident. “We have no idea why it happened. Is there a motive? We know don’t what the relationship was between the three,” he said.

Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office say they are looking into a motive for these murders, and the relationship between the three people. Joyner, Hill and Naylor arrived together on Acacia Court at around 4:30 AM.   The Malibu is registered to Naylor, authorities say.

While at the scene, WFMD News spoke with two residents. Charlotte came out of her home, and asked what was going on. When told a double homicide was under investigation, she responded “it’s scares the hell out of me. I really thought I was in a very safe place.”

Josh had similar comments. “It’s scary, especially when having kids. Just knowing that the vast majority of people,  you wouldn’t think that anything in this neighborhood or surrounding neighborhoods would happen,” he said.

Detectives and other crime scene experts recovered a knife blade from the scene, along with the Chevrolet Malibu.

Acacia Court was closed while the investigation was underway. Yellow police tape was put in place to keep the public out of the area.
