The advisory is in effect from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
FREDERICK, MD. (LG) The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the Frederick area.
“It was suppose to be a coastal storm, but now it has shifted more to the west, which means a lot of the Metropolitan area is going to get some snow right around the rush hour, during this holiday time,” said Charles Gischlar, Maryland State Highway Administration spokesman.
State Highway crews are out treating the roadways. “We have a short window to treat roadways. Right now we are in mid-Maryland treating I-70, 270, US 15, and all the major routes out to that area,” Gischlar continued. “We are asking motorists to please stay behind our trucks and do not attempt to pass them. And once our trucks get out there, give them plenty of room to operate and treat the roads effectively and efficiently.”
A winter weather advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. The advisory is in effect from 1:00 p.m. this afternoon to 7:00 p.m. this evening.
