He had sneaked into the US three times.

Greenbelt, Md (KM) A federal judge last week sentenced a Clarksburg man to 21 months in prison for being in the US illegally. The US Attorney’s Office for Maryland says Jose Juarez-Diaz, 32, had three illegal entries and two prior deportations.

Officials say Juarez-Diaz had tried to enter the US near Oceanside, California from Mexico on February 3rd, 2003, but was apprehended by US Border Patrol Officers. He voluntarily returned to Mexico.

Juarez-Diaz entered th US a few days later, federal authorities say.  But in July, 2003, he was arrested in San Diego, for kidnapping and carjacking. Juarez pleaded guilty to vehicle theft, and was sentenced to a term of probation. He was deported back to Mexico on November 6th, 2003.

Juarez-Diaz entered the US a third time, but he told investigators he was unsure when and where that happened.

On March 12th, 2015, he was arrested in Montgomery County for sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl. He was convicted of sexual abuse of a minor. A judge sentenced him for September 11th, 2015 to 25 years, with all but five years suspended.

On October 12, 2017, Juarez-Diaz was paroled after serving less than three years incarceration. He was turned over to federal authorities. Juarez-Diaz was successfully prosecuted on immigration offenses..
