Deputies arrested 298 impaired drivers in Jefferson County, WV.
Kearneysville, Wv. (CY)- The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office recieved multiple awards at the West Virginia Governor’s Highway Safety Conference last week.
The Sheriff’s office was awarded the “Top Enforcing Office” honor. Last year, the Sheriff’s Office arrested 298 impaired drivers in Jefferson County.
“Making our roads safer is a priority for the Sheriff’s Office,” Jefferson County Sheriff Pete Dougherty said.
Five Jefferson County Deputies were honored among the top law enforcement officers in West Virginia; more than any other department in the state. Those included were: Seargant K. Boyce, Deputy First Class G. Kilmer, Corporal D. Tabler, Deputy J. Grantham, and Corporal J. Forman.
Sheriff Dougherty credits “increased engagement” from his department to the low number of drug and alcohol related crashes in Jefferson County, which has some of the lowest impaired crash rates in the region.
