The man failed to control his speed and hit the cruiser
Hagerstown, Md. (DG) – A West Virginia man is charged with causing an accident in Washington County on Wednesday evening involving a Maryland State Police vehicle.
The accident happened on Interstate-70 westbound in Clear Spring, while a trooper was conducting a traffic stop. Other vehicles on I-70 in the area were moving over for the state police cruiser.
Police say 32-year-old Michael Montanaro was traveling in the left lane, when he veered right to avoid the traffic slowing ahead of him.
Montanaro’s vehicle skid and struck the rear of the police cruiser.
There were no injuries.
