Frederick, Md (KM) Sentence was handed down in Frederick County Circuit Court on Wednesday to a convicted drug dealer. Kevin Mullen, 24, of Hagerstown, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute cocaine and other drugs, and possession of a firearm. He was given 50-years in prison with all but 25-years suspended. After he’s released, Mullen will be placed on three-years of supervised probation.
“It sounds like a pretty stiff sentence for a drug dealer, which it is. But you’ve got to bear in mind that he’s facing enhanced penalties which means he has as prior criminal history of doing this,” says State’s Attorney Charlie Smith.
Mullen was arrested in December, 2017, after Sheriff’s Deputies and the SWAT team served a search and seizure warrant at a home on Rooks Court in Frederick. As authorities entered the home, deputies maintained a perimeter outside. They noticed a black object thrown from Mullen’s bedroom. It was a loaded handgun.
“The defendant actually admitted that everything in the bedroom belonged to him and that he sold heroin and crack and he had been doing so for some time,” says Smith.
During their search, deputies found a black digital scale, $252.00 in cash, paper bindles with residue, plastic baggies with residue, a baggie containing suspected crack cocaine, a paper fold with heroin inside, a cut straw with residue and a baggie containing one Lorazepam, according to the State’s Attorney’s Office.
