Sharpsburg Man Charged With Arson

He set two fires inside a home on Wednesday.

Sharpsburg, Md (KM) The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office has charged a Sharpsburg man with setting two fires inside of a home. Christopher Link Morgan, 26, is charged with 1st-degree arson, 2nd-degree malicious burning and threat of arson.

Authorities say Morgan set the fires inside a home owned by his mother, Carolyn Hasty at her home at 18337 Lock Canal Road because he was angry with his brother, Richard Puddy, for touching his lawn mower. The fires were quickly put out and no fire department services were needed.

Both Hasty and Puddy lived at the address on Lock Canal Road.

A deputy fire marshal sent to investigate the arson saw Morgan with a hatchet in his hand and a campfire in the side yard of the home on Lock Canal Road. Morgan was ordered to drop the hatchet; he complied.

He was taken into custody without incident.
