Frederick, MD (KK) – Work is scheduled to begin Monday on U-S 40 near the Golden Mile. A contractor from Rockville will remove the top layer of asphalt, pave, and stripe between Old Camp Road and the I-70 ramps. There will be single lane closures Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.. Charlie Gischlar with the State Highway Administration says more than 15,000 vehicles travel this section each day.
“Now, of course we will enhance that by doing the least traveled section first during the day meaning to accommodate with the morning rush hour and then conversely, flip over to the other side during that afternoon rush hour, as well,” said Gischlar.
The work is expected to be finished by late August. Be sure to leave extra time when driving in that area and watch out for construction workers.
