Counting Completed For 2018 Maryland Primary

The 8th slot in the Frederick County Board Of Education Ballot For November is decided.

Frederick, Md (KM). It’s on to the general election! The Frederick County Board of Elections on Friday finished counting a batch of absentee ballots from last week’s Primary Election. Election Director Stuart Harvey says the results remain the same from the June 26th election.

“And in the race for Board of Education in the 8th position for nomination, the person who came in 8th was Kim Williams, she had 5,094 votes. And in 9th place was Marie Fischer-Wyrick 25 votes behind at 5,069,” he says.

That means Williams’ will be placed on the ballot in November. The other candidates for the Board of Ed are Brad Young, Karen Yoho, Jay Mason, Liz Barrett, Camden Raynor, April Miller and Cindy Rose.

The turnout for this year primary was 22.5% of the registered voters in Frederick County, which Harvey calls “rather sad.” But he said it could be due to the fact that the gubernatorial primary is in late June rather than in September, when it was in past years. “People were used to having a primary election in a gubernatorial in September. So we haven’t re-acclimated to a June primary yet,” he says.

The general election is scheduled for Tuesday, November 6th, 2018.
