Frederick Man Sent To Prison For Several Assaults

He also tried to disarm a police officer.

 

Frederick, Md (KM) A Frederick man who pleaded guilty to four different assaults and trying to disarm a police officer was sentenced on Wednesday. In Frederick County Circuit Court, Stuart Delchamps, 22, was given 35-years in prison with all but ten-years suspended, and will be placed on five-years of supervised probation when he’s released.

According to the State’s Attorney’s Office, Delchamps struck and attempted to stab Phillip Passmore outside of the Shuckin’ Shack on Market Street on March 17th, 2018. Passmore was with a group of other people. Delchamps ran away when he saw he was outnumbered.

He went into the Perfect Truffle and stole a knife. He threatened Courtney Cromartie with the knife. . Delchamps also pushed Nicole Bailey into a stack of boxes and assaulted her. Both were employees of the Perfect Truffle.

Once on the outside, Delchamps met Officer Scott Long. He threatened the officer with the knife, and kept yelling at the cop “shoot me.” Officer Long was able to persuade Delchamps to drop the knife. The defendant fought with Officer Long as he tried to place him under arrest. Delchamps kept kicking, hitting and spitting at the officer.and tried to take the cop’s gun out of his holster. With the help of other officers and civilians, Delchamps was taken into custody, He was transported to Frederick Memorial Hospital for an evaluation.l

The next day, according to the State’s Attorney’s Office, Delchamps, as he was in the process of being discharged, assaulted Jessica Riser, a social worker, as she was relaying information to him. The defendant yelled threats at Riser and struck herĀ  on the back of herĀ  head with a closed fist. The assault was witnessed by FMH staff.
