Authorities say the driver of the striking vehicle left the scene.
Hampstead, Md (KM) The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal pedestrian accident early Friday morning in Hampstead.
A passerby, who did not witness the accident, called authorities just after 3:30 AM after coming upon the victim located in the 1600 block of Brodbeck Road. The individual had been struck by a motor vehicle. The striking vehicle did not remain at the scene.
Deputies say their initial investigation revealed that Eric Hendler, 31, of Hampstead, was walking along northbound Brodbeck Road when he was struck. He was transported to Carroll Hospital Center where he was pronounced dead shortly after 5:00 AM..
The striking vehicle is believed to be a dark colored Ford pickup which should have extensive front end damage.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit, the Investigative Services Section and the Forensic Response Unit were dispatched to the scene.
