The deadline is Sept. 3rd.
Frederick, Md (KM) The Agricultural Land Preservation Board says applications are being accepted for Frederick County’s Installment Purchase Easement Program. Under the program, the county purchases easements–or development rights–from farmers which forever restrict the development on their properties.
Since it was established by the County Commissioners in 2002, the Installment Purchase Program has preserved more than 20,000 of local farmland, officials say.
Through this program, the county pays the farmer tax-free interest only over a term with a balloon lump sum principal payment at the end of the term, according to county officials.
Interested farmers must submit their applications by September 3rd by 4:00 PM to the Division of Planning and Permitting, 30 North Market Street in Frederick. More information can be found at www.FrederickCountyMD.gov/agpres. For additional details, contact Land Preservation Planner Shannon O’Neil at 301-600-1411, or by e-mail at [email protected].
