September is National Recovery Month.
Washington, MD – “Go Purple” is the slogan of September as several Maryland counties recognize September as National Recovery Month.
Washington County is kicking off September with a family-friendly event at the Hagerstown City Park featuring bounce houses, face paintings and Olympic BMX Coach Tony Hoffman as the keynote speaker.
Hoffman is a former opioid addict and has dedicated his life to sharing his story and bringing awareness to the opioid epidemic.
The event is August 31, corresponding with International Overdose Awareness Day.
Additional community events will be held including:
August 29th at 5pm- Opening Reception- “Purple Haze: Selective Perception.” Come visit the gallery all throughout the month of September to see the submitted art.
August 30th at 7pm- Hagerstown Suns “Go Purple”
September 7th from 11am- 3rd Annual Recovery Walk in University Plaza featuring recovery artist B-Rain, Kona Ice, C&O Taco and more
September 21st at 9am- 2nd Annual Interfaith Prayer Walk @ University Plaza
September 22nd- Elks Lodge 378 hosts a Washington Goes Purple family day featuring speaker Ray Lozanno and family activities.
