Frederick Shooting Injures One Man, Locks Down Local Schools

Police are still investigating.

Frederick, MD – Frederick Police responded to reports of a shooting Tuesday that injured one and locked down local schools.

According to Frederick Police, the shooting was reported around 11 a.m. and was located on the 300 block of Heather Ridge Drive. One man was injured and is at a local hospital.

The locked down schools included Monocacy middle, Monocacy elementary and Heather Ridge School.

The schools and Heather Ridge Drive have since been reopened.

Police have not yet announced a suspect.

*UPDATE*

Gunshot victim was transported to trauma center. He has been reported stable but in a serious condition. He has not been identified.

Police report they still have not identified any suspects but believe the suspect fled the scene in a dark colored sedan.

Police are unsure if the shooting is related to other violent incidents from the weekend.
