They were the second highest in the state.
Kearneyslville, WV – The Jefferson County Sheriff’s office announced Thursday their 2019 arrest rates for DUIs.
270 DUI arrests were made, giving them the second highest DUI arrest rate among 224 law enforcement agencies in the state.
“We take the issue of impaired driving seriously,” Sheriff Pete Dougherty said. “While the total number of DUI arrests were down, we consider that a sign of success that those that drink and use drugs are learning to use a sober designated driver or simply not driving while impaired.”
The Sheriff said his office has already made 20 DUI stops in the last 30 days.
