Frederick, MD -the Dickerson Road bridge on MD 28 over the Monocacy River was closed by the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration Tuesday morning for emergency road work.
According to a press release, the closure started at 10 a.m. with crews closing both lanes on the bridge so they could safely repair drainage grates.
There is currently no estimated time for completion.
Barrels and signs will be used alert motorists about the closure and direct them to the detour route.
The MD 28 detour directs travelers to use MD 109 (Old Hundred Road), MD 355 (Urbana Pike), MD 80 (Fingerboard Road) and MD 85 (Buckeystown Pike).
Motorists are encouraged to allow extra time if traveling during the closure.
Approximately 9,300 vehicles use this section of MD 28 every day.
