State Of Emergency Declared In Brunswick

It follows direction from the CDC regarding COVID-19.

 

Brunswick, Md (KM) A State of Emergency has been put in place in Brunswick due to concern about the coronavirus..

City officials say beginning on Monday, March 16th, City Hall and the City Annex building will be closed to walk-in visitors, but employees will be on hand to answer phone calls and e-mails.

The Police Department will also be closed to walk-in visitors, but officers will still respond to calls for service, some of which they may be able to  handle over the phone. .

The Public Works Department and water and wastewater treatment plants will be closed to the public, along with the City Park building.

The Community Home and Craft Expo scheduled to April 4th has been canceled.

Officials say these steps are being taken to protect city workers and the public from COVID-19 infection, and prevent possible contamination of city facilities.

The City staff says it will maintain phone contact with residents, and citizens are encouraged to contact City Hall with questions or concerns. The phone number is 301-834-7500. The Brunswick Police Department will take non-emergency calls at 301-600-2071. For emergencies, call 911.

Municipal officials say this move was made following a meeting with City of Brunswick Emergency Preparedness Committee,  and with  direction from the Centers for Disease Control.
