Ten resident tested positive for the coronavirus-one man died
Frederick, Md (KM). A second person has died in Frederick County due to the coronavirus. The County Health Department says it was a resident at the Frederick Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Officials say ten residents at the Center were tested for COVID-19. . Six were positive and four were negative. The six were three men and three women ranging in age from 71-86 years. One of the six who tested positive has died. He was a man in his 80’s with an underlying health condition.
The other five are receiving treatment at the Frederick Health and Rehabilitation Center, the Health Department says.
In a statement, the Frederick County Health Department says the agency’s Liaison to Long Term Care Facilities toured the Frederick Health and Rehabilitation Center on Wednesday, and reviewed its operations and protocols. Officials at the long term care facilities said the Center continues to screen its staff at each shift, and outside essential health care personnel are not invited in until they are screened.
The Frederick Health and Rehabilitation Center’s policy of restricting visitation is based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The local facility says it is in contact with it suppliers and pharmacy providers to make sure it has ace to the needed medications and supplies.
Any residents at the Frederick Health and Rehabilitation Center who are symptomatic are isolated.
“Frederick Health and Rehabilitation Center is cooperating and we will continue to work closely with this and all long term care facilities in Frederick,” says Dr. Barbara Brookmyer, Frederick County’s Health Officer, in a statement.
The Center has a current bed census of 98, the Health Department says.
