A visual display will set up on post through June 15th.
Frederick, Md (KM) Fort Detrick is honoring and recognizing the sacrifices of fallen heroes and their families.
From now until June 15th, there will be a visual display on post to commemorate the Gold Star Families. Officials say along Porter Street, there will be 245 US Flags, accompanied by name placards with pictures and service information.
“The intent is to honor and recognize the sacrifices of family members who have lost a loved one in military service through a visual display,” says US Army Garrison Commander Colonel Dexter Nunnally, in a statement.
Fort Detrick says it’s Survivor Outreach Services assists families in several counties, including West Virginia, Maryland and Virginia. SOS provides financial, educational, healthcare and hosing support and resources.
