Frederick, Md (KM) An Emmitsburg man is charged in connection with a fatal crash near Union Bridge in March. Noah Kyle Wetzel, 19. was served with an arrest warrant on Friday, charging him with negligent manslaughter and criminal negligent manslaughter.
The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office says Wetzel was driver of a flatbed truck carrying three people in the rear. The vehicle went off Clemsonville Road on Friday night, March 20th, spinning its tires. It came back on the road, continuing to spin its tires.
Two people fell off the truck. One was Michael Adrian Fritz, 22, of New Windsor. He was flown to Shock Trauma where he died the following Sunday, March 22nd. . The second person was John Wittington, 19. He was also flown to Shock Trauma, and at last word, his condition was reported to be improving.
The Sheriff’s Office says this incident was an illegal “Pop Up Street Race Event” which was organized and spread through social media.
