Sheriff’s Office Encourages Citizens To File Complaints On Line

This is in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Frederick Md (KM) Citizens who need to file a complaint or request a police report can do all that online. The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office has set up a web address for residents to report a variety of incidents such as destruction of property, fraud, harassment, hit and run, lost property, theft, theft from motor vehicles and vehicle tampering.

The web address is (www.frederickcosheriff.com/online-reporting)

They can also submit drug tips, patrol check requests and traffic complaints.

The Sheriff’s Office says this is an easy way to report minor incidents rather than visiting the agency, or having a deputy respond and take a report.

Even though it’s being implement during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Sheriff’s Office says it plans to continue this service indefinitely.

“Online community reporting and requesting allows deputies to stay focused on more critical responses to the community and reduces risk of exposure to deputies and residents for non-critical reports,” says Sheriff Chuck Jenkins, in a statement. “Telephone reporting was implemented a few years ago before the coronavirus impacted our community. Due to the increased need for our deputies and Frederick County residents to reduce the spread of the coronavirus, we have recently added additional report types that can be submitted on line.”

“However, I want to emphasize,” Jenkins continued, “that a deputy will respond to these types of incidents if requested.”
