Two Crashes On I-270 In Frederick County Thursday Night

One was a fatality.

 

 

Frederick, Md (KM) Maryland State Police in Frederick investigated two crashes on Interstate 270 Thursday night; .one was a fatality.

At around 8:30 PM, troopers and emergency medical personnel were dispatched to northbound I-270 near the 28-mile marker where a Jeeps truck a motorcycle, and fled the scene. The cyclist identified as Joshua Teskey, 54, of Louisville, Kentucky was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore where he died early Friday morning.

The operator of the Jeep was found at a gas station on Route 85 a few miles from the scene, where his vehicle had become disabled.   Brandon Alas Roque, 23,  of Brunswick was taken taken into custody as part of the investigation into the crash. State Police are investigating whether alcohol, speed or driver distraction were contributing factors. . Charges are pending following a consultation with the State’s Attorney’s Office.

As troopers and the State Transportation Department were clearing the highway following the motorcycle crash, a Cadillac Escalade was traveling down the shoulder of I-270, striking several vehicles, hitting a guardrail before overturning on to the right shoulder..

A passenger in the vehicle identified as Alexander Alfaro Amaya, 21, of Gaithersburg, was taken to Frederick Health Hospital to be treated for his injuries. Steven Alfaro Amaya, 20 also of Gaithersburg, was not hurt.

State Police say they detected signs of impairment, and Steven Alfaro Amaya was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.

Additional charges are pending.

Troopers say the investigation into both crashes is continuing.
